It is said that the best things in life are free, Happiness at NO COST. Surely money can buy you a lot of things…but do they really bring you happiness? I guess for some time it does, till that ‘something’ wears out and you need to replace it with a new one.
Life is filled with simple pleasures. They are the gifts of life that we each subconsciously celebrate in our own unique way.
Some of the moments that have been the best in my life are:
Receiving a letter through snail mail; I can’t even begin to express my excitement on receiving a letter through snail mail. Gone are the days of pen-pals, so much fun…writing a letter and then waiting a few days for a reply. The internet and email…and now applications like Whatsapp etc. have fu%^@ed it up big time
Saying the same thing simultaneously; there is a moment of silence, then all of the sudden you and your friend blurt out the same exact set of words simultaneously.
Finding the cold side of the pillow; no real explanation. The feeling is just so relaxing
The first sip of a beverage when I’m really really thirsty; It’s a hot day, you are out in the sun walking…you get to the nearest shop and ask for the coldest beverage they have… the first sip… Sheer Bliss
Hearing the right song at the right moment; whether at home, driving from work or at a restaurant. When the right song rattles your ear drums the entire meaning of life seems crystal clear.
And probably the best one of the lot
Making Brief Eye Contact with someone of the Opposite Sex – You pass her on the road or at the railway station. She glances up at you momentarily, making direct eye contact in a way that seems to communicate a subtle curiosity.
What about you?
