Sights & Scenes @ Kodaikanal

Looking around…in Kodaikanal

Besides the boating, cycling…home made chocolates and the warm clothing that one normally associates with a hill station. Sight seeing is what I am always interested in…Some places are walking distance…like Coakers Walk, Bryant Park, the Kodaikanal Lake which is centrally located while others are in different directions.

Below is a pictorial display; a few for your viewing pleasure.

Some of which were really amazing, my favorite being the (i) Pine Forest, a photographer’s delight. I am no photographer and I was thrilled to bits, capturing pine trees in different directions 😀

(ii) Guna Cave/Devil’s Kitchen:

Devil’s Kitchen (Guna Caves) located at a distance of 40 Km from Kodaikanal, is a very dangerous deep hidden ravine that looks like small dark gutters but are actually a deep fall. It is called as Guna caves as a Tamil movie Guna was shot here. There are plenty of tourists who visit this place and is a must see spot for adventurous tourists.

The deep narrow ravines of the caves are now closed to public due to the tragic deaths of twelve youth there. These dangerous caves are highly protected now, and tourists can see sections of the cave system from afar…which is sad but then again even if it was accessible, I would be the last person to enter or go anywhere close, my camera zoom would at best capture a shot…

(iii) Green Valley View: another top of a hill overlooking the scenic beauty around and mostly makes pretty photographs with the clouds in the background

(iv) Upper Lake View: Shows the view of Kodai Lake from an ariel view, the clouds..loved their formation

(v) Coakers Walk (some people actually pronounce it as cockers walk…hehehe!) loved this place too…such peace and tranquility. At times you feel you are touching the clouds. Its beautiful just being there at that height, the clouds make a pretty sight.

Lots to see, plenty of memories…some captured through my camera lens, others remain in my mind. Most importantly, for me it was 72 hours of sheer bliss, the people, food, and the weather <3 it all.
