The Goan Wedding reception

The Goan wedding reception where every move..shake..twist..turn..and practically every little movement you make in rhythm is called a DANCE. This kind of dance is reserved for the ‘middle set’ (let’s say between snacks and dinner time) where the fast, dance music is played..and by that time most people are high or almost there and no matter what you do, which way you turn, all you need to do is enjoy yourself. There is no wrong step, no wrong hand movement (unless your moving your hands into others)

A video below to show you what exactly it is to dance at a goan wedding. No, I am not there in this video dancing anywhere. Just in case you are looking out for me 😉

They say “If you wanna get married, you got to get married in Goa, coz its gonna be a wedding like no other” The Goan Wedding reception is a place where you let go, and let your hands and feet take over, basically the music will transfer you to a different zone and all you have to do is dance to the tune of the music. From the first dance where you waltz (slow dance) with your partner to the middle set where you are basically just having loads of fun.
Boys, girls, men and matter who you are..u may not even know how to dance but the dance floor is one place you have to be. If you’re not, you are missing out on a whole lot of the best part of a wedding.

From English to Hindi mixed with the konkani mando (goan folk music) its all played in perfect rhythm. It’s one big party. If you have not witnessed a goan wedding, pester your goan friends to take you for one. It’s only when you go for one, will you experience what a Goan wedding IN GOA is all about.

As for me, well I go for weddings but select ones, normally at dinner time or just before dinner time. Dancing is not my thing, food yes, if I am ever captured in the wedding video DVD it will be at the dinner table serving myself. That’s about my participation at a wedding reception.

Some more music below for you to enjoy 🙂

  1. And I’m sure you would go all crazy once you attend a Punjabi wedding 😂 Goan reception seems to be fun but a bit formal. In Punjab, it is like the uncle with an arthritis problem or the aunty with a knee replacement surgery done a week ago will dance with like it is the last Dance of their life! Not boasting at all. Lol. I cannot walk in my six inch heels but I danced for two hours in those killers and it is still an unresolved mystery 😂

    1. yes, I have read about punjabi weddings somewhere on a magazine…heard its a lot of fun too 🙂 Wait! did u say 6 inch heels..isn’t that too high?? let alone walk..and u danced?..did u watch the video after it came out?

      1. It was killing me but as soon I went in the dance floor, bam!! The pain vanished!! 😂
