Memories! RIP Yahoo Messenger

Yahoo msngr

Yahoo messenger to SHUT DOWN officially on July 17 🙁

Memories anyone?

Who can forget those Yahoo chat rooms? We’ve made so many friends through them. I know for one very special person 😘 and we’re still friends. All thanks to ‘Yahoo Chat Rooms’ 😀

They were quite popular among the 90’s kids, allowing its users to create custom avatars. There was an option to either use a profile picture or build an avatar for yourself.ava The only time I actually took trouble to create an online image of myself 😜😛

There was MSN surely and AOL and ICQ but nothing came close to like the atmosphere in the Yahoo chatrooms. My Yahoo ID dates back to 1998, now that’s called ‘being faithful’ – 20 years, till this day 👍

And now, no more of that sleepy grey emoticon changing to a smiling yellow one. Its all over! 😠 Companies are just ruining it for us 90’s kids… 😠😠

Orkut was good too…better than the rubbish Facebook we all use now

  2. I’ve never used Yahoo messenger . It was MSN messenger for me. And it was fun during those days unlike today .

Yes absolutely! Emoticons meant more back in the day..I had equal no of chat-friends on msn and Yahoo. But Yahoo always seemed to be my go-to chat option 👍

  3. I have actually used it in my teenager years. It was cool but with the time the means of communication that one uses change. Now I only use professional instant messengers that cover the many security regulations that it need to comply with. Now it is all about Brosix. Hope they never close it. lol

‘Brosix’ huh!? Must check it out…

  4. I remember the good ol’d days of Yahoo! Sigh!
What fun it was to give your avatar a Green Mohawk when schools wouldn’t even allow a mohawk in real life 😀
I didn’t know it closed down. Sad day indeed even though I had stopped using it long back. Nostalgia 🙁

    1. Some wonderful memories indeed!
