I’m Busy!

Everyone’s Busy!

You pick up a phone to call somebody for something,..and the most immediate answer you’ll get is (at least 99% of the time) I’m busy. Of course you’re busy, you’re at work… you’ve got a life of your own to look after, yet you can be found online on Facebook or Whatsapp. I guess that qualifies for busy too nowadays? 🤔
But these same people are found in theaters or at pizza centers – “Busy” …entertaining themselves I suppose? But then entertainment isn’t work and if you aren’t working you shouldn’t be busy.. right? Maybe, ‘a little occupied’ 😉😉

How hard is it for people to say “NO – I cannot make it” and not because you are busy, because you do not want to.

So basically the phrase “I’m busy” is a flawed concept. People can say I am occupied (makes more sense) you need not be busy to be occupied right? or if I have to put it the other way round – You can be occupied with some activity and not necessarily be busy with it.

Like the other day, ‘x’ called ‘y’ on his phone, it was a Sunday (people aren’t generally busy on Sundays) he was at home and it was around 7 in the evening. ‘X’ picked up the call and said he was busy… so obviously ‘x’ had to ask “busy with what?”
“bringing new life into the world” 😇 pat came the reply
‘y’ clearly couldn’t carry on the conversation and cut the call 🙃😂😂

Now the question is…

Was ‘x’ busy?
Clearly Not.. the way I see it
At best, he was occupied with an activity and not necessarily busy.

Busy people don’t have time to pick up phone calls or meet people, they’re just BUSY!

No idea where I’m getting with all this… but all I’m trying to say is don’t get so busy that you’re letting life slip out of your hands… people aren’t gonna be around forever you see! So when people call me on phone and ask “busy?”, my reply is “I’m never busy” just occupied…

Chose your words carefully! 😀

  1. If they are busy ‘always’ then I think the best solution is never to disturb them again.

Yes, I’m getting to that point with certain people. But then again, the word ‘busy’ is the most abused word in English nowadays.. along with ‘Sorry’. Don’t u think so? One doesn’t even need to think twice before uttering those words.

      1. I’ve learnt the art of being with myself and not being attached to anyone. It’s a feeling of liberation.

  2. For me, I never say I am busy or occupied even if I am..its more like if I am able to attend the call, I will definitely talk to that person and If i am really occupied then I wont really pick up the call unless it is ringing 3-4 times in a row! It could be an emergency then!
And “Busy” is just an excuse or a defence mechanism to avoid a person…
And most Importantly i never say I am busy because the person called you so it must be something that they wanted to share with me or simply talk to me which i always appreciate and value the fact that they missed me and took time to know if i am doing fine with my life…so that makes me really happy 😊😊😊😊

Now that’s a smart answer, I knew you will have something smart to say (as always) …and of course you’re never really busy to comment, which is something I love about you… even if it means a few days late (after Diwali) 😂😂😂

      1. Still I manage to get back to you…which is something like this, I never picked up the call but I did call you back some time later 😉😉😉

  3. Well!!
    It’s good to be busy….
    Busy with him…
    Busy with our ownselves..
    Busy with work..
Whoever comes along way… We shall be busy…
    😉

  4. They say that it is all about priorities. If it is important enough, you will make time for it, no matter what!

An intelligent answer. I too believe in the same concept. Its either I can do it and I do, or I cannot and say sorry. No two ways about it. No one I’ve met thus far has been “really” busy – just occupied with something. Thanks for visiting and commenting dear 🙂 Welcome to the extraa..aaaamile :p

It is indeed! ..if we have to compare it with the simple life people led in the good old 70’s and 80’s
