You pick up a phone to call somebody for something,..and the most immediate answer you’ll get is (at least 99% of the time) I’m busy. Of course you’re busy, you’re at work… you’ve got a life of your own to look after, yet you can be found online on Facebook or Whatsapp. I guess that qualifies for busy too nowadays? 🤔
But these same people are found in theaters or at pizza centers – “Busy” …entertaining themselves I suppose? But then entertainment isn’t work and if you aren’t working you shouldn’t be busy.. right? Maybe, ‘a little occupied’ 😉😉
How hard is it for people to say “NO – I cannot make it” and not because you are busy, because you do not want to.
So basically the phrase “I’m busy” is a flawed concept. People can say I am occupied (makes more sense) you need not be busy to be occupied right? or if I have to put it the other way round – You can be occupied with some activity and not necessarily be busy with it.
Like the other day, ‘x’ called ‘y’ on his phone, it was a Sunday (people aren’t generally busy on Sundays) he was at home and it was around 7 in the evening. ‘X’ picked up the call and said he was busy… so obviously ‘x’ had to ask “busy with what?”
“bringing new life into the world” 😇 pat came the reply
‘y’ clearly couldn’t carry on the conversation and cut the call 🙃😂😂
Now the question is…
Was ‘x’ busy?
Clearly Not.. the way I see it
At best, he was occupied with an activity and not necessarily busy.
Busy people don’t have time to pick up phone calls or meet people, they’re just BUSY!
No idea where I’m getting with all this… but all I’m trying to say is don’t get so busy that you’re letting life slip out of your hands… people aren’t gonna be around forever you see! So when people call me on phone and ask “busy?”, my reply is “I’m never busy” just occupied…
Chose your words carefully! 😀
