Goin' the Extra..aaamile

…and if anyone forces you to go one mile, go also the second mile

When ‘Anjali’ isn’t just a name…

..it’s an emotion!

Why am I suddenly talking about emotions ..and what connection does a name have with it? Well it does.. and being Indian plays a major role in being so [emotional i.e]

Now as Indians, we love our movies and with watching Bollywood movies over the years, by the age of 21 we are clearly bollywoodized (as in we see/imagine our lives through the eyes of a Bollywood film) so when we hear a name we’ve previously heard in a Bollywood film..we kind of get excited. Trust me! we do 😜

In which Bollywood film have you heard the name Anjali before? I’ll give you a couple of seconds (it shouldn’t take more than that) to recollect

Yes! Kuch Kuch Hota Hai – the obvious first answer.

..not one Anjali – but two… the college best friend (turned wife at the end of the movie) and the daughter (from the woman he loved before the ‘realization’)

Kajol from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is the first image that comes to mind when we say Anjali.

I might not be this huge Bollywood fan, but there have been some stories that kinda get stuck on with time – Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was one of them, and Anjali was more like a household name, back then.. in many ways STILL IS.

Of course I didn’t know any Anjali back then.. it was only a year.. year and a half ago, that I actually got to know one… Yes – Anjali. You wouldn’t have imagined my excitement (though I might have not shown it externally) I was like OMG! its Anjali, I know an Anjali.. needless to say we hit it off the very first time we met (the few things we had in common were English, the love for talking and being Goan) she’s this really awesome person, bubbling with energy.. and she’s also a Science Teacher 🤓 – how cool is that? It was one thing that I understood squat of Science back in my school day, but all that in another post. Let’s concentrate on the teacher here 😛

So it would only be fair to dedicate this post to the only Anjali I know.. (till now that is) – Anjali Shetkar – Science Teacher (who can also teach Maths, she specifies) – Friend & a wonderful human being.

While I’m being biased towards the name Anjali in particular, there are a few other Bollywood preferred names that are right up there.. some of whom we personally know name sake of and others who we meet for the first time

..Naina ..Aditya ..Pooja ..Raj ..Meera ..Prem ..Priya ..Rahul ..Tina etc

Besides, I haven’t found my Anjali as yet..

mujhe abhi tak aisi ladki nahi mili jis ko dekhkar kuch hone lagta hai..

kya hone lagta hai…?

dil mein kuch hota hai..

kya hota hai

kuch kuch hota hai

There are so many such examples in Bollywood. I met a girl named Khushi the other day.. and I instantly remembered Kareena Kapoor. And she has such carefree attitude too.. So..😅
    It’s relatable!

Even if Bollywood doesn’t use it as much, it’s a way too common name in daily life😂
