To many people, the idea of The Devil, is a myth. He is a product of the imagination of people, yet the Bible says that he is a reality.
Whatever we might think, we all agree that there is Good and then there is Evil in this world. We aren’t sure if it is the work of the devil or any other force, that makes bad things happen to us. Some would simply say Evil is the absence of good happening in our life or vice versa and don’t really believe in such things.
As Roman Catholics, we do believe that The Devil is behind everything that is wrong & evil, he deceives us, tricks us in different ways to turn away from God and it is in our everyday prayer that we pray, that we may be protected in the armour of God and that the devil may not be able to do harm to us. Psalm 91, helps us with that – it is the Protection prayer and so also is the Prayer to St Micheal the Archangel
What does St. Micheal stand for?
St Micheal acts as the defender of the Church, and chief opponent of Satan; and assists souls at the hour of death.
Prayer to St.Micheal
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle;
be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do you, O prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
We meet so many kinds of people everyday, some of them give us positive vibes, others not no positive vibes and there are some..well, you just don’t feel comfortable around and want to stay clear of them.
Are these just vibes..and if there are, where are they originating from? Is our soul trying to tell us something? Surely! But do we have the time to listen? There is a lot of negativity energy going on around us, and we can’t really avoid it in our human strength, and hence we require God’s guidance to take us through. But we can do our part – Be honest to ourselves and in our dealings, don’t give into temptations (for we know from where temptation originates) Don’t give him the upper hand and we’ll see our lives changing for the better.
It’s never too late to start over.
