The Encounter

I have been watching a lot of movies of late, can’t help it when I’ve got an unlimited Internet connection that allows me to download unlimited data – why simply waste the good speeds that’s on offer? I am running out of external hard-disks to store them in though..

Okay so coming to the movie I watched ‘The Encounter’ another christian movie (watching a lot of those of late)

So what do we get in The Encounter? A road block, lots of rain, thunder, 5 Strangers at a diner with a man named Jesus. Ought to be a good movie you’d think. Surely why not? and it’s also got a message for everybody.

This movie at many levels will teach you a lot about your faith, and how at times even when we’re going through the everyday struggles that we do, God is there watching over us, how he intervenes and reaches out even when we don’t know HE is there.

The idea of meeting God at a diner was different and good to see in a movie, making the whole movie very personable and real. (Of course these things would never really happen in the real life but wouldn’t it be nice to imagine, what if it did?) Unlike many other christian movies this one shows us the reality of the various choices we are faced with and the consequences of them and also the constant battle we have between good and evil.

The best part of this movie is, you don’t even have to be christian to watch this film, its script is well written to attract all types of audiences of all ages. These are the kind of movies that need to be shown on movie TV channels (which unfortunately are never shown) That said, it is a very fine little movie and an hour and 30 minutes is all the time you have to invest in it, not too much considering the many hours we waste on watching rubbish on the Internet.

Other Movies you’d like to watch.. Grace Unplugged, The Shack, Letters to God, October BABY, Heaven is for Real, Miracles from Heaven etc…

Miracles from Heaven

This is a very human-feeling drama that’s still all about God’s priorities, God’s choices and God’s timing.

I couldn’t have watched a more beautiful film than the one I watched a couple of hours ago. The movie was Miracles from Heaven and though it was a film released  last year in March 2016, I only got to know of it while searching for ‘faith based movies‘ (to be exact with the keywords I used on google search) Having just finished watching a movie in a similar genre, namely ‘What if… God gave you a second chance? led me to see if there were other such movie similar to that.

It was said that the movie Miracles from Heaven is based on a real story that actually happened, a book was written by Annabelle’s mother which was later turned into the movie. I would love to get my hands of that book too, when I do.

The synopsis of the movie being: 10 year old Anna Beam lives with a rare, incurable disorder that leaves her unable to digest food. Despite the dire diagnosis, devoted mom Christy relentlessly searches for a way to save her beloved daughter. Everything changes in an instant when Anna tells an amazing story of a visit to heaven after surviving a headlong tumble into a tree. Her family and doctors become even more baffled when the young girl begins to show signs of recovering from her fatal condition.

I am glad I came across this movie, downloaded it and watched it. Definitely worth investing an hour and 45 minutes for the film.

What was it that led me to this movie or even do the google search I did, I’m not really sure  but I guess sometimes you just do certain things that you aren’t really sure of. I’m not someone who is generally moved by watching a film, but then there are some that well.. just leave a lasting impression on you, like this one did to me

From the performances to the cinematography, it is a film well made. A special mention goes out to Jenifer Garner who shines in the role of a mother, definitely not an easy role to do but dos justice to it.

A definite tear-jerker. Do watch the movie if you get the chance.

If you want to watch another wonderful movie, by now I’ve got a list of them.. OctoberBABY – another must watch. I could go on.. on to watching my next movie now.

Bollywood vs Hollywood

What does one expect when he/she goes to watch a new film?

Let’s talk of Bollywood films first..
Bollywood is no longer all about running around trees and getting wet in the rain. The latest of Bollywood movies will see cars flying in the air and really bad adaptations of so-called humor..and worse still, talk of some producers roping the porn star (guess you know who I’m referring to) just to increase the viewership of their pathetic films.

Bollywood is on an all time decline when it comes to producing films, but now and then you will have one brilliantly produced film that gives the Indian movie-fan a new hope that; Wait!! Maybe..just maybe the next one may be as good as the previous one..but alas! the next one will be a total FLOP.

What expectations do I have when going to watch a Bollywood movie in a theater?

For one, I am investing a good 3 hours of my life to a movie so I am very careful which ones I go for. My choices have not always been great but at most times I have probably (after reading multiple reviews) chosen the good movie to watch.
..Oh and yes, always take good company when watching a film..at least that way if the film isn’t interesting, you still have fun with your friends, lover etc.
# The story needs to have substance
# The actress has to be cute, actor isn’t good looking..not a problem [I would never go for a Sunny Leone film]
# I should be able to at least laugh at some of the jokes.
# A little romance will do in the film
# The film should have at least 3 good songs

Let’s see now..the movies I have watched and loved for either one or all the above reasons.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan – Who could hate this movie? The first ever movie that had me shed tears. I have never ever done that before, even when my grandmother died 😀 I never shed tears, this movie moved me to that extent.

Piku – Simply for Deepika and yes Amitabh is always a worth watch..and for a director who produced Vicky Donor as his first movie..I was very interested 😀

ABCD 2 – Having watched the first part, had to watch the sequel which was ‘okay’ Shradha Kapoor, she’s cute <3

Welcome Back – Only for Majnu and Uday..I think they were hilarious 🙂

Dil Dhadakne Do – One big confusion..didn’t realy know what was happening and when I did start following what was happening..the movie ended.

Katti Batti – my biggest mistake. CRAP movie! though the visuals and promos looked very good.

P.K – The movie not to miss out on. Anushka sharma, I tried not to look at her lips..they looked weird but otherwise I think she acted really well. The movie was a hilarious one to say the least 😀

Ek Villian – I loved this movie, especially for the story. Seeing Riteish Deshmukh in a different role was awesome and the way he played his role to perfection. The songs were great and Shradha Kapoor <3

2 States – Loved the novel so watched the movie… Alia, <3 her too. Though I think the novel was way better than the movie. The movie adaptation wasn’t bad

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania – Another Alia Bhatt film..so yes! <3 there

…among the most recent ones

A very wise friend advised me once “Whenever you decide to watch a Bollywood movie, leave your brains at home. Don’t even analyse what’s going on the screen..nothing will ever make sense. You pay for Entertainment not knowledge”

Coming to Hollywood, I watch almost everything. The thing I look in for Hollywood movies is the English accent and new vocabulary. Of course it needs a good story which all of them have. From the love stories to the comedies and the horror…I like them all.
Nicholas Sparks movies are awesome, watched all of them 🙂
Hangover, Part I, II and III loved them too and there are so many more that will take a whole post dedicated to just movies I’ve watched..and yes, I’ve watched a lot.

I’m not a movie buff but I do like to watch a movie once in a way, to stir up my emotions a bit when I feel a little lost.

So that’s all about movies I like…Which Bollywood and Hollywood movies are your personal favorites?
