The morning after..

He was finally married. wedding-rings1

The night had passed, it wasn’t as eventful as he had imagined it would be, considering they were both tired after the late end to the wedding reception.

However, the morning was here. He woke up with a smile, his now-wife Rekha was still sleeping next to him. Not sure whether to wake her up or not, he walked towards the kitchen, obviously very hungry (everybody knows the wedded couple eats the least at their wedding), he expected his wife to prepare a modest breakfast for him, but seeing her sleeping he realized, she must have been really tired herself.

He looked around the kitchen (probably the first time ever he entered one with the intention of making something) after a quick analysis of the resources available, he decided on scrambled eggs, a few slices of toast and a maggi preparation of  the single maggi packet lying in the cupboard (to be shared obviously) The effort wasn’t bad considering it was his first time, the toast came out a little burnt (he preferred to refer to them as crispy) the eggs could have been scrambled better. The one thing that really came out good was the maggi preparation, he knew that very well. He put it all on a flowery quarter plate on a tray and took it to his wife.

He had never made breakfast for himself before, let alone make and serve another person on the bed.. (unsure what endearing word to use to wake her up.. he settled on her name) he woke her up gently,  when she opened her eyes & saw that he had made breakfast for her, she shuffled around quickly and got off the bed. She had remembered the words she told her mom only a week before

“how romantic would it be if my husband made breakfast for me in bed” she smiled to herself at the memory and said

“You made breakfast? wow!” breaking out into a sheepish grin

She was still getting used to the fact that she was now married.. to her benefit, it was ONLY their first morning together and she had woken up late – Shit!
While she joined him in what was her first breakfast in bed with him, she bit into the crispy toast.. he looked at her seeking her approval on his efforts, she looked at him ..and they both laughed.

It might have not been the perfect start, it certainly was a crispy one.. as they both laughed their hearts out ..somebody still needed to finish the toast.

The Epic Love Story

When it comes to epic, larger than life, mind blowing love, there is no topping..

Jack & Rose

Exactly 20 years and 4 days on [to this day].. and they still live on in our hearts. While we all thought there was enough place for Rose and Jack on that raft.. yet the film makers chose to have Jack die.. for their love story to be etched in our hearts forever. It also could have been a brain freeze moment for Jack considering he was in water with temperature of around 28°F and the mind barely works well in such conditions.

The scene was iconic: Jack bids Rose a goodbye, letting her stay safe on the raft as it floats away from the sinking Titanic, leaving his fate sealed in the icy waters.

That said, there are so many such moments & scenes in the movie, that leave the viewer to just “wow” at the wonderful film ever to be made. Personally, I might have watched it over 20 times at least.. but did miss out the opportunity to watch it in 3D, which I do regret [of course at that time it was for maybe a particular scene(s)]

Some of my most favorite dialogues of the movie would be.. [and maybe yours too]

Rose: ” Don’t come any closer , I’ll let go!”

Jack:”No you won’t!”

Rose:”You’re crazy!”

Jack:”That’s what everybody says, but with all due respect miss.. I’m not the one hanging off the back of the ship here”

Jack:” Just give me your hand and I’ll pull you back over.”

Rose:” No, I’ll let go.”

Jack:”You let go and I’m, I’m gonna have to jump in there after you!”

Rose:”You’d be killed!”

Jack”I’m a good swimmer!”

Rose:”The fall alone would kill you”

Jack:”To tell you the truth, I’m a lot more concerned about that water being so cold.”

Jack: “I remember when I was a kid. Me and my father,we went ice fishing on Lake Wissota. Ice fishing is you know where you..”

Rose: “I know what ice fishing is !”

Jack:”Sorry. You just seem like, you know, kind of an indoor girl!”

Jack: ”I got everything I need right here with me.I got air in my lungs and a few blank sheets of paper. I mean I love waking up in the morning not knowing what’s gonna happen or who I’m gonna meet, where I’m gonna wind up.Just the other night I was sleeping under a bridge and now here I am on the grandest ship in the world, having champagne with you fine people”

Jack: ”Hold on Hold on, keep your eyes closed..Do you trust me?”

Rose: ”I trust you.”

Rose: “I’m flying”

Rose: “Jack I want you to draw me like one of your french girls..wearing this”

Jack:”Alright”

Rose:”Wearing only this”

Jack:”Rose!.. you’re so stupid…Why’d you do that, huh?” You’re so stupid Rose! Why did you do that, WHY?”

Rose: ”You jump, I jump right?”

You’d think what kind of an insane woman would jump back on board a sinking ship? But that’s True Love for you!!

Rose – “I love you, Jack”

Jack – “Don’t you do that, don’t say your good-byes.”
Titanic wasn’t just a movie, it was REAL. It feels that way, at least when I watch it. Ever since I watched the movie (& subsequent movies shot on board ships/cruise liners), I’ve always wanted to go on a ship cruise myself..let’s see when that materializes (if ever)
What was your favorite scene/dialogue from the movie?

Romance is dead

To quote google, Romance “is a feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love”

…but unfortunately over the years, the word Romance has taken a whole different meaning to young couples. People are more in the feeling-each-other mode nowadays. So, where is the mystery left in love? Nobody is interested in knowing about their significant other, it’s all about getting to know their answer to “are we sexually compatible”? Let’s take it from there…

Discovering each other before marriage is what ‘youngsters’ claim as romance. We all know how women get turned on by touch…and guys know just the right buttons, an art seemed to have been mastered over time. I don’t know where they learn it from but they seem to know all the right moves…and some girls actually enjoy it. One things leads to another and no sooner you’re baring everything to somebody you barely even know.

Is this Romance? Shedding clothes and getting physical with a total stranger?

I’ve been told by people, how would we know if we are compatible with each other if we didn’t do it before marriage? It’s as if SEX is the end-all to being in a relationship with another person.
What happened to the old-age technique of holding hands? Going for a walk in the park/at the beach and have actual conversations? I’m sure girls/women still dig candle-lit dinners, being gifted roses, a simple ‘good morning, I Love You’ text msg…no wait, its WhatsApp now!

I may be romantically challenged… (or at least I think I am, being single over a long period makes you think you are!) but romance to me is probably going out of my way to make an ordinary day extraordinary for ‘her’ simply because I want to.  I want to have the butterfly feeling when I am with her

Call me old school…but its the small things that make all the difference, the big, more exciting stuff can wait! Let’s leave something for later…considering we have a long way to go!

Now this is more like it <3
