Virat Kohli & Anushka Sharma – married FINALLY!

So far they were unofficially married.. NOW they are (secretly) officially married..

With all the talk of the much awaited marriage of India Cricket Captain Virat Kohli with Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, they chose to travel 7 hours to Italy from India, to exchange their wedding vows in front of family and close friends.

So much for the Indian media, that even had TIMES NOW (Indian news channel) dedicating a special segment to discuss the whole Virat & Anushka marriage as Breaking News.dd
So, it’s finally happened and we couldn’t be happier.  The last thing that got so much attention in India was the Demonetization, I think. With the Virat-Anushka marriage making headlines on almost every Google search page, and on news channels.. I can only imagine the chaos when the couple get back from Italy. That said, they make a wonderful couple.

So here goes my wish to the couple:

Congratulations to the both of you & the families! Wishing you a Happy married life guyz! Stay in  always!

Chances are that this post will be lost among the various hashtags dedicated to Virat Kohli.. but that doesn’t stop me from getting myself involved in what will be the biggest talking topic in India, for the next one week or at least till they decide to come back to India and make an official announcement.

On a more serious note, Can we now have VK fly back for the 2nd ODI vs SL? India just got butchered yesterday at the hands of Sri Lanka and it isn’t looking too good going ahead. The team looks like a bunch of lost sheep without its shepherd (though Shepherd may not be quite the right term to use)

So its finally official!!!!

The smiles & laughter say it all…

22 days into the Ipl

Yes! 22 days later and I’m writing something about the IPL, today.

I wasn’t really excited about IPL 2017, primarily because the team I am supporting, i.e RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) was almost a non-starter, with their captain Virat Kohli all set to miss out the initial few matches, A B de Villiers out with a back issue, Sarfaraz Khan out with a freak injury during the practice sessions, and with blow-hot-n-cold Chris Gayle-you can never really say and besides he’s not the same Gayle, 10 years ago, it is almost as if RCB was fielding a second string outfit on the field.

However with the last 2 matches, that Captain Kohli is back with Gayle firing on all cylinders in the last match, could we see traces of the old RCB? They certainly have it in them to reach the top 4, even it it means struggling at the back end to reach the playoff’s.

What has impressed me the most, is some of the performances of the Indian lads so far in the tournament, guys like the Pandya’s – Krunal & Hardik, Nitesh Rana (Mumbai Indians), Rishabh Pant and  Sanju Samson (Delhi Daredevils), Manish Pandey (KKR) and Kedar Jadhav (RCB), exceptional talent backed up with superb performances.

With MI and KKR holding the top 2 positions as of now, they do seem to have the team to go all the way, but don’t count out on the RCB, or any team for that matter, all it takes is one victory to turn it all around. RCB has shown that in the past…

RCB 6 2 4 0 0 4 -0.747

6th on the points table. Looking for some better days ahead. GO RCB!!!

Team INDIA – Brought back to Earth

The high-flying INDIAN CRICKET TEST TEAM has been brought down to Earth..courtesy a slow left arm bowler namely Steve O’Keefe from Australia. Yes! It’s time for the whole of India to bash the same Indian cricket test team that has had a flawless 2016 and a great home season so far, barring this one test that they are all set out to lose, gracefully!

I am no specialist cricket analyst, all I’m saying is If the Australian batsman could apply themselves on that pitch – WHY NOT INDIA?

Some Major talking points of this Test Match:

To begin with Pune being a first time test venue, has dished out a ‘disgraceful pitch’. Why lay out a pitch that turns from day 1 or worse still ball 1? Shame on the curator.

That done. Virat’s captaincy was very ordinary, considering the fact that there was so much talk about ‘having plans for each batsman or whatever’ I believe Rahane said that, so did Virat Kohli [Rahane’s contribution of 13&18 runs, Virat Kohli contribution of 0&13, add to that senseless reviews and below average captaincy (this test)]

Playing 5 specialist bowlers on a turning/crumbling pitch, where as a team you know you will require the extra batsman instead of the extra bowler. Wrong selection! Australia was never going to be pushover team like Bangladesh. Australia was the smarter team, better team composition, I think they understood the conditions better.

So much for Team India and their unbeaten streak, so far which will end somewhere today. Shame on a team, that has played some excellent display of both, bat and ball all of 2016, to come down to getting out for 105 in the first innings and to be struggling at 102/7 in their second.

I agree, even the best team can have an off match, but on home your own backyard and its not only that – you’ve been outplayed by a team who looked clueless in Sri Lanka, on similar pitches with similar bowling attacks and with Team India boasting of in-form batsman and bowlers. It’s a shame! At least compete (104 & 107) doesn’t quite make pretty reading.. this has been a complete humiliation.

I want to hear what Harbhajan Singh has to say now!! He predicted a 4-0 in favor of India..Australia is going 0-1 up, in a hurry.

Current score as I post this 107 all out – Pathetic!!

Which team bats for less than 41 overs in a test innings? INDIA..and they’ve done it twice in the same test.

Sorry! But we’re (Indian cricket fans) not impressed!

Inching closer…Semi Finals

India Kohlifies for the semis !!!!!!

India did it! Well actually Virat Kohli did it!! Semi-Final time now…!

I would have to say that at one point I was worried with Yuvraj Singh at the crease, India wasn’t getting anywhere but then the brilliance of Virat Kohli… everything else is forgotten!

Next up..West INDIES. The Gayle Force to contend with…bring it on! We’re ready!!

What can you say about this man..! Virat Kohli, he’s pure class!!

The Virat Kohli & Anushka Sharma Saga

Everybody in India has an opinion on the Virat Kohli & Anushka Sharma breakup story. I was the only one who didn’t really have much to say, but since everyone is talking about it, I thought I’d join the bandwagon.

So what’s with the Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma breakup story? Some people said they made a cute couple (I use the past tense here because they have already broken up) while others said it was bound to happen. A few other people thought they made a cute couple considering the closeness they shared 🙂

Everyone surely remembers the famous flying kiss Virat gave his lady love, sitting in the stands…if you don’t, here’s a reminder below..his kiss and her reaction to it 🙂

News sources say they broke up due to Anushka’s refusal to accept Virat’s marriage proposal. I mean why would she reject his proposal? …and citing her career as a reason, that is plain foolish if you ask me. Who says you can’t concentrate on your career after marriage? Many people seem to create magic after they are married..or wait! maybe women function differently-I don’t know.

As for guys, it just gets better after marriage..look at Rohit Sharma, everyone said he was ‘wasted talent’ but things seemed to have looked up after his marriage, at least consistent wise..he was always an exceptional player if you asked me, he’s just more consistent now. His wife must be really happy! Btw, Ritika, his babe!

As a cricket fan, it doesn’t matter to me, with or without Anushka Sharma.. I am happy as long as Virat is performing on the field as much as he’s performing of it. If you look statistically, Virat is a better batsman when he’s not multitasking, cricket & his love life.

According to sources, his breakup happened before India’s tour down under (Australia), just have a look at his scores in that series:
91, 59, 117, 106 and 7 in the One Day Internationals 90, 59 and 52 in the T20Is.
Clearly, he enjoyed his cricket! He kept the whole of India happy and we all love Virat when he performs on the field.

So if you ask me, I can’t comment much on their relationship..neither do I know Virat nor Anushka personally. Maybe they looked good together, but whatever the outcome of their love story, let it not affect their respective careers. As much I love watching Virat Kohli perform on the field, I equally love watching Anushka Sharma on the big screen, wouldn’t want any of them to compromise on performance.

My guess is Anushka isn’t a good multi-tasker, hence ended her relationship with Virat for her career. Heard that Virat is still trying to woo his lady love. My best wishes are with him, Anushka could not have a better catch.

Go Virat! Go!
